Women’s Voices for the Earth leaders are a group of activists who go the extra mile to take action, help spread the word on our campaigns, and build leadership among women and young people for a healthy future. They are part of WVE’s leadership development effort to identify future leaders and help transform the environmental health movement to be more inclusive. We welcome anyone who is interested in getting more involved with WVE and who wants to develop leadership skills along the way. Below are different ways to become a leader.
VOLUNTEERS: Our volunteers are representatives of the organization who organize in their own communities based on their interests and availability. They are developed as leaders on a case by case basis and in consultation with the Program and Outreach Manager. They are provided multiple opportunities throughout the year to participate in group presentations (e.g. tabling 101, how to talk about WVE, how to host a house party, spokespeople training) and opportunities to connect with one another.
Additional Leadership Opportunities
FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM: WVE’s fellowship program is a year-long program of people working for WVE 10-15 hrs/week to organize members of their community around an issue area/project. Fellowship opportunities are often available to high school and college students. They are professionally developed and supported throughout their time with WVE to become leaders and organizers in their communities.
INTERNSHIPS: Our internships are project based or semester-long high school, college students, or working professionals. These internships are unpaid or for school credit. Interns work 1-7 hours/week with WVE and their working schedule is flexible. They go through a WVE orientation and may have opportunities for leadership and professional development. They are managed by the Program and Outreach Manager but may work on a specific project with a different staff member.
