Back in October 2010, Women’s Voices for the Earth exposed that Brazilian Blowout was using dangerous levels of formaldehyde in their popular hair straightening treatments – even though they labeled them “formaldehyde-free”.
Finally, Brazilian Blowout can no longer mislead stylists or consumers with false safety claims! The California Attorney General’s office is requiring the company to put caution stickers on their products advising users about the release of toxic formaldehyde gas, which is linked to cancer.
But this is not enough. Legally, high levels of formaldehyde can still be used in the product, exposing both stylists and consumers to this cancer-causing chemical.
