Everyone deserves to live in a healthy and safe environment. That environment includes where you live, work, play, and pray. We reject and actively push back against racist rhetoric, actions, policies and institutional oppression that leads to state-sanctioned brutality, gun violence, and harm that again and again assaults communities, particularly communities of color. We are committed to working for justice and equity, and are in solidarity with social, racial, and environmental justice organizations to build community, understanding and honest dialogue to address the root causes of violence, harm and hate.

Detox Your Booth Webinar: Protecting Salon Workers from Toxic Chemicals

Formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates. These are just a few of the toxic chemicals you may be exposed to if you work in a hair or nail salon.  This exposure could be harming your health.  For example, studies show that salon workers have a higher risk of certain cancers, neurological disorders, and miscarriage than people in other jobs. Our latest webinar, “Detox Your Booth”, highlights the chemicals you may be exposed to in the workplace, tips for reducing your exposure, and ways to raise your voice for healthy salons. This is an important listen for all salon workers, owners and patrons alike.

About Our Webinars
Women’s Voices for the Earth hosts the Body & Soul Series for our members with a webinar each season featuring guest experts on different women’s health issues. These are great opportunities to get tips for protecting your health from toxic chemicals, learn how to take action, and “meet” and chat with other WVE women.

These interactive webinars are one hour long — both over the phone so that you can talk with the expert and other WVE members — and online so you can see the slides. Oh yeah, did we mention they’re free?
