Tip of the Month: Share Your Passion

It’s autumn—that time of year that makes you think of freshly sharpened pencils, back-to-school traditions, and the excitement of learning something new. Whether or not you will be spending time in an actual classroom this month, it’s a great time to follow your passion to learn more and share your knowledge with friends and family.

Designed for WVE members, this 10-minute PowerPoint presentation provides a brief overview of how chemicals get into our bodies, lists common household products where toxic chemicals lurk and offers tips for avoiding them. The kit also includes tips on giving the presentation as well as fact sheets you can distribute to your friends and family who attend.

Your voice can be really persuasive with the people you know best. According to research, individuals are more likely to accept and act upon information if people with common backgrounds and concerns present it. Discussing potential behavior changes among a group of friends can also create a positive social context to support those behaviors. In other words, you could have a huge impact on your community simply by creating a space to have a conversation about toxic chemicals and health.
