I am a 42 year-old mother of two, wife, and stage IV non-Hodgkin’s cancer survivor. In 2006, after a year of cancer treatments I was given the long awaited news that I was in remission. My only directions from the cancer clinic were to return for regular screenings and to watch for any new lump or bumps on my body. The cancer experience is a total loss of control and I wanted control of my health back. My next step was to go to the internet to find out how to avoid carcinogens and probable carcinogens. I also learned that I need to avoid a new breed of toxins called endocrine disruptors. Groups like WVE have empowered me to keep myself healthy and to teach my kids a better way of life. I am also excited to educate my friends to help protect them from things like cancer, infertility, Multiple Sclerosis, autoimmune, asthma, etc. At 5 years of remission, I am beating the prognosis for my cancer every day. I like to think my new awareness and avoidance of everyday toxins gets a lot of credit for my health and durable remission.
