Halvor and Chantal Gaasrud were married in 2006 and blended their already made families. Halvor, an established corporate pilot living in Connecticut, and Chantal, a licensed Realtor in Maryland began selling real estate in Connecticut. The Gaasruds bought their first home together in April 2007, a charming log cabin, nestled in the woods overlooking a tranquil pond–what could be better? Life was good for awhile. After living in their new home for a brief period of only two months, tragedy hit. Their home was demolished by a fire that devastated their lives. They lost all that they owned included their four beloved pets, Sam, Shadow, Simba & Snowflake. A life time of memories were gone in a flash. Lucky to have escaped the fire with their lives and blessed to have their family intact, they made the daunting decision to rebuild again, this time to build as ‘green’ as possible. After two long bittersweet years, the Gaasruds finally completed their cedar log home in the Spring 2009.
After moving into their new home, the Gaasruds wanted to find a way to maintain their home naturally while protecting the health of their family and the environment. They started researching green housekeeping and were shocked to learn of all the harmful and harsh chemicals in today’s commercially bought cleaning products. Most importantly, the harmful effects these chemicals have on our bodies and the environment. This motivated the Gaasruds to make a fresh “green” start and to only use 100% natural and organic products in their home. It was clearly evident that living a green lifestyle had a tremendous positive effect on their lives and became something that they sincerely believe d in. With a strong desire to spread the word to other households on eliminating toxins in their home and on their bodies, the Gaasruds decided to start their own company making all natural and organic home products and green residential cleaning services.
As their business continues to grow, the Gaasrud family takes pride in educating other families in their awareness of synthetic chemicals used in their homes and on their bodies, and the health and environmental hazards associated with them.
