I learn something new every day, both as a mother and as an independent journalist.  I came across WVE as I was researching simple living topics for the website I produce called http://FlourSackMama.com.  I wondered what all the fuss about cosmetics safety was about. I was also intrigued about the growing popularity of Green Cleaning parties, deciding to host one.  I was surprised to find myself in conversations about the tragedies of infertility and cancer.

Because I grew up on a family farm with acres of woods and water to roam, and accustomed to gardening, I feel a strong appreciation and attachment to the land.  It’s only in recent years that I’ve learned about returning to organic farming methods, and I’m intrigued by the idea of simplifying some things in life, like our food, in order to live better.

Losing my mother to cancer awakened me to the need for women to become aware, active participants in prevention of this cruel disease.  Subsequently becoming a mother of two girls further compels me to care about the environment we’re in every day, starting with our bodies and homes.
