Women’s Voices for the Earth Announces Amber Garcia as New Executive Director
Missoula, MT – National environmental health non-profit, Women’s Voices for the Earth (WVE), announced today the selection of Amber Garcia as their new Executive Director. Garcia brings extensive experience in grassroots voter engagement, community advocacy, youth leadership development, and reproductive justice to the position.
“Amber’s experience with leadership development, engagement and mobilization is invaluable to the future of WVE’s work and the growth of the WVE community,” said Betsy Hands, Chair of WVE’s Board of Directors. “It is exciting to have Amber move into this position as a leader who recognizes how important it is to invest in and lift up the power of community, and the power of women, to create sustainable change in the systems that jeopardize public health.”
Garcia comes to WVE from the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR) — a Denver-based Latina-led and Latina-serving grassroots organization — where she served as Field and Program Director. During her time at COLOR, Amber spearheaded civic engagement programs and collaborated on broader social justice movement wins including increasing the minimum wage for all Coloradans.
“It is with great pleasure that I step into the Executive Director role to lead WVE into the next chapter to continue their bold work on addressing the toxins that seep into our everyday lives, and to build power with women and families across the country,” said Garcia. “The reality of the intersections in which we live will be front and center as we hold our elected officials accountable and as we demand that toxins be removed from the products that disproportionately impact women and marginalized communities.”
Garcia also has a history and strong relationship with Women’s Voices for the Earth; she has been a steering member of WVE’s Detox the Box Advisory Committee, which plays an instrumental role in WVE’s sustained campaign to eliminate toxic chemicals and ingredient secrecy from menstrual and personal care products. In addition, Garcia was a member of WVE’s board in 2018.

Amber officially begins her role as Executive Director of Women’s Voices for the Earth on February 19, 2019.
